News of the Weird and Weirder.....

Denton is really getting into the whole coupon clipping thing.... I should have known when we were in Mexico and he was trying to speak spanish with a sombrero on, playing a guitar, and trying to bargain with the street vendors!! He refers to me now as the coupon queen and him as the coupon kid. I just wanted to throw this on the blog because I really thought it was funny. Today I went to pick up Denton from school and he had his coupons in his little wallet and let me tell ya, those coupons were burning a hole in his pocket. So we headed to Safeway just to let him use his "body wash" coupon. He actually saved nearly $4 and got the body wash for $2.25. Needless to say, he is hooked also. Now he wants to do the grocery shopping with me!!! OH NO, I really have to concentrate when I am doing coupons.......

The State of Our Affairs....Blah, Blah, Blah....Shut up already!

This morning I was listening to GMA radio in my car and they were discussing the presidential speech from Tuesday night. It was the “bite that bloated the cow for me”, the “straw that broke the camels back,” so to speak. Yes, it literally drove me over the edge. Maybe I was tired, stressed, and just fed up in general, but I had to ask myself a few questions:

Is anyone else getting sick of hearing about the countries dire situation, (reality actually)??? Well, I am sick of it. Yes, the country is screwed right now, but the media really needs to let up. I think there is a tactic behind all this fear they are instilling in the public. They are blowing this “recession” completely out of the water with their constant talk about the public needing to be fearful. No wonder people are killing their entire families in an attempt to “save” them from what the media has deemed their absolute and certain future…..I mean crap every time I turn on the TV or radio I want to chug a bottle of Jack and scarf ten boxes of Little Debbie’s. This situation we are in right now is minimal to say the least, in comparison to say the Depression. I am not saying we should ignore what is happening, but isn’t there something to be said about the power of positive thinking?? How can we the American people visualize this getting better when every time we set a conscious foot on the floor we want to rendezvous with Jack and Debbie because the TV is saying we are loosing our A_ _es? Yes, I said conscious because about the only time I feel good these days is when I am asleep… (This might be because I have small humans at my house, but I am using this as my excuse today).

This could one of the great times in our lives when we realize we needed to make a change and actually do it. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge change, as long as it helps you in your life….. (Hint, hint COUPONS!!) You know the saying or song, “Hindsight is 20/20, but I am nearly going blind….” Well American done went blind and is now hoping for a corneal transplant. The public however, needs to try and see the light for her………………………

Normies Birthday!!! Age undisclosed......

Today is Normie's Birthday and I thought that I would give him and everyone else a little shout out about the whole ordeal. I found this saying and poem and loved them, so here they are.....The last one actually reminds me a little of myself???

"As one cat said to another: Birthdays are like fur balls-the more you have, the more you gag."
- Marla Morgan"

Life Poem
YOU KNOW YOU'RE GETTING OLDER WHEN...© By Rita Henry

Does your body have arthritis? Is your hair turning gray?

Do the wrinkles on your aging face feel like they've come to stay?

When your husband turns the heat up and you are still cold, remember these are just some signs that say, You're getting old.

Your grandchildren are getting older and their birthdays you forget, and you wish that you could subtract twenty years from a body that just wants to sit.

Does your body do one sit-up that stays with you all day?

Half in the morning when you get up and the other half when you're in bed to stay.

The clothes you had when younger you can suddenly no longer wear. You try to put them on anyway, but all they do is tear.

You walk to the bathroom to brush your teeth and find that they're not there. Your chest is going up and down and you have to try hard just to get some air.

You try to stick to a diet and your food intake goes down. But, when you get on the scale, it shows you've gained two pounds.

You decide to do some jogging, oh, say twice around the block. You set the alarm to time yourself and you get beat by the clock.

When you mention 'Elvis' to someone and they say to you, Who's he? You tell them a famous singer and they say, Was he on your family tree?

You decide to look for your glasses, so you can read in bed. You look all over the house for them and find they're on top of your head.

When your best friend has a birthday, no matter what time of the year. Do you remember to send them a card, or a late one that says, I missed it. Oh, dear.

Don't feel bad about growing older. We all have to do it someday. Even though old age is starting to catch up to you, don't let insulting birthday greetings get in your way.

Would YOU Change...??

I was listening to this song today as, you guessed it I was running and it inspired me to ask myself some questions....It is amazing the clarity you find in running, which is the reason I love it. I know that none of us are perfect, but there is always room for improvement and not just for the little things, but for the big things.
I have been cooking all week for a family that lost their 20 month old baby and it made me think about many things I take for granted in my life.....the ironic thing is that I don't even know this family well, but I felt compelled to help somehow. Not out of guilt, or fear for my own children's lives, but out of instinct. Maybe it is because I have seen many little lives leave this world and I have felt the physical pain of a parents love as they have to say their last goodbyes, I am not sure. I guess that is what the human spirit is all about. It is that whole "full circle" thing in life.
This song is on the play list at the bottom of this blog, it is track number 7. Give it a listen and think about it. No, I haven't gone crazy or soft, this blog just happens to be the spot in my life that I have chosen to express my inner thoughts.
Yeah, no adult conversation all week during the day has really taken it's toll. I am like the movie Overboard, where she is staring at the wall catatonic and mumbling by 4 in the afternoon, so whoever reads this blog is getting a mouthful............
CHANGE-Tracy Chapman
(Click on Track 7 at bottom of page)
If you knew that you would die today If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that love can't break your heart When you're down so low you cannot fall
Would you change would you change?
How bad how good does it need to get? How many losses how much regret? What chain reaction What cause and effect
Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget
Makes you change?
Makes you change?
If you knew that you could be alone Knowing right being wrong
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would find a truth That brings a pain that can't be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad how good does it need to get? How many losses how much regret? What chain reaction What cause and effect
Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget
Makes you change ?
Makes you change ?
Are you so upright you can't be bent if it comes to blows Are you so sure you won't be crawling If not for the good why risk falling
Why risk falling If everything you think you know Makes your life unbearable
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you'd broken every rule and vow And hard times come to bring you down
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would die today If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you saw the face of God and love If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?
